Nearly back to normal

The Nevada Gaming Control Board has given another company the green light to offer 100% occupancy. MGM Resorts Las Vegas properties can now get back to almost normal, offering full-service gambling options with no capacity restrictions. The company was able to meet requirements set by the Board regarding COVID-19 including vaccination percentages.

Details were provided by the company via Twitter:

MGM Resorts International operates several venues that are eligible for the capacity change. The properties include the Bellagio, Excalibur, Aria, New York-New York, MGM Grand, The Mirage, Mandalay Bay, and Park MGM.

MGM Resorts Las Vegas capacity changes

The gaming floor of each MGM Resorts property can now offer 100% capacity. There are no social distancing requirements that must be followed.? While the casino area can get back to normal, the venues must maintain the 80% capacity restriction outside the gaming floor. Restaurants, swimming pools, and other non-gaming areas are still at the lower capacity and require three-foot social distancing among guests.

Additional health and safety protocols will continue at MGM properties, including mask mandates. MGM Resorts CEO Bill Hornbuckle commented on the approval, stating the company is working to vaccinate as many people as possible and will remain vigilant regarding protocols to protect its employees, their guests, and the community.

this is yet another major milestone in Las Vegas’ incredible recovery”?

“This is yet another major milestone in Las Vegas’ incredible recovery and a testament to the importance of vaccination in the effort to fully reopen our community,” Hornbuckle said.

The announcement is big news for Las Vegas as the company is the largest casino operator on the Strip.

As MGM Resorts prepares to open at 100% capacity, it is not the first to do so. In early May, Wynn Resorts was given the green light to get back to full capacity, the first to gain approval after vaccinating 88% of its employees.

The casino took action in the vaccination process, telling employees they must be vaccinated or provide a negative test each week. The strategy paid off as employees completed the inoculation process and the Wynn Las Vegas and Encore are now fully operational.

Parking fees back at MGM

With visitors returning to MGM properties, it is important to note that the operator has decided to reinstate parking fees for specific events and resorts. For example, visitors attending Vegas Golden Knights playoff hockey games at the T-Mobile Arena will have to pay a fee. In addition, events and shows at Park MGM also require a fee.

Most resorts will begin valet parking starting on June 1. Locals will have access to three hours of complimentary self-parking.? Event parking fees will apply to the MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, New York-New York, Aria, and the Luxor. Prices will range from $15 to $18 a day.
